Yesterday vs. Today
Yesterday I was raving about breakfast as if it was something I had created. In fact, on more than one occasion I used the word 'discovered' when I was talking to friends about it. (I have a goal this week to eat breakfast daily.)
Today I woke up too late to make anything before leaving. My stomach was really not happy with me when I got to work this morning.
Yesterday I had more than 5,000 steps before leaving my house at 6:40 in the morning. (Another goal is to get 10,000 steps a day.)
Today I left the house with somewhere between 100 and 200 steps.
Yesterday my dog woke me up at 4:30, and planning to get up at 5, I stayed awake.
Today I woke up at 4:30 wondering where my dog was, and planning to get up at 5, I went back to sleep (after finding him) and didn't wake up until after 6.
Yesterday I watched this video and wanted to really, really do it.
Today I watched that video and wanted to really, really do it.
I guess not everything changes.

That Much Closer...
... not talking about my thesis, but I am 'that much closer' on that too...
Today I dropped Max off at the vet around 7 am and picked him up around 5:30 after my late meeting. I felt bad leaving him there all day, but I think he handled it like a champ. Although he was *very* excited to see me and looked ready to jump over the counter to get to me when they brought him out.
But what he's closer to is becoming a therapy dog. I've been thinking about it for a while and finally decided to take the steps to make it happen. I think he'd be great at it - he loves all people, and especially kids, and has such a sweet temperament (until blogger corrected me just now, I would have spelled that 'temperment'). As the vet wrote on his 'report card' - 'he is quite the charmer!'
I've taught him two new tricks (using great videos from this guy) in the last four days and despite my initial - 'I think he might be dumb.' reaction when starting with the first trick, he's doing very well and I think he's actually pretty smart. (: I became really impressed after teaching him 'leave it' when I saw that even when I gave the command after he'd lunge for it, he'd back off without eating it.
After I think he's trained enough, I'll be in touch with someone who can certify him as a therapy dog. Here's hoping he qualifies! I think it would be a great experience for me - and for him. (:

...
So many things to say... so many pictures to share... but it's late. It's really, really late (especially for someone who dreams about going to sleep at 9). So I'll leave you with this -
Happy happy love day everyone.
Love, Bruce
(get why his name is 'bruce'?)
and no, I did not make him.
Tess did.
she's pretty much amazing.
It's That Time Again...
the mascot of the party - 3 years running
Two years ago I decided that I would actively not hate Valentine's Day (I had always been pretty indifferent). What's the point of hating it? Just because I have no reason to really celebrate it... (:
So I started my annual 'We Don't Hate Valentine's Day' party. This year's party is my 3rd annual. I have fun every year. It's a good excuse to spend time with other single ladies, make sugar cookies, and listen to good music and/or watch a romantic movie.
So if you're a single lady, have no plans for tonight, and know where I live. Come on over and make sugar cookies with us. (:
And to everyone - Happy Love Day!

Years Ago...
I got this as a prize when I answered a question right while watching a frisbee dog show at the Clark County fair. It's a big poster separating the different types of dog breeds. I don't see Max on there...

I Seriously Love This City
and here are just a few of the reasons:
Oh, sidenote - I'm now monitoring my comments because some lame-o keeps spamming me. Thanks a lot kevin21. If someone knows of a way I can just block him, that would be wonderful to know.

I Am Now Slightly Obsessed
A co-worker told me about this webcam.
It centers on two bald eagles. It pans around to show them in their nest or on nearby branches. Sometimes (like right this moment) they can't even be seen because they flew off somewhere. I still watch and listen. I have it on one of my screens at work while I work on the other screen. Even when they're not there the sounds of the wind and other birds and occasional traffic is soothing. I think I'm kind of a junkie now.
If I understand right, they've been doing this for a number of years. If you keep watching, you'll get to see the eggs and the eaglets as they hatch. I'm pretty excited about that.

big play button in the center sometimes it will take you to the website and sometimes it will play on here... If you click
on the small one on the bottom left, it plays right here.)

Sitting This One Out
I didn't do today's challenge. Maybe I should have tried to dress up my standard black coat. But I didn't.
Oh well.
I might try something for tomorrow's open to interpretation.
But maybe not...
We'll see.
