A Walk Through My Town (in pictures)

 my mountain.

my temple.

people setting out chairs (more than a week early) for the draper days parade.

my companion.

this deer was so still when i first saw it that i would have sworn it was a statue.

even residents of a fancy 'manor' save seats for the parade. -- with fancy chairs.

us in shadow.

i love this house. one of the historical houses around draper.

stopped by a neighbor's house whom we met on a different walk a few weeks ago. max and bentley (another golden doodle) played for about an hour.

worn out.

admiring a friend's garden.

believe it or not there's a frog in this picture. my flash (on my new fancy phone) doesn't work, it drowns everything out.

my wound from the playing dogs. as nice as they both are, they're kind of oblivious to everything and everyone around them when they're playing.

proof of my defective flash. but i still kind of like this picture. he looks mystical... (:

Today's Walk

The kiddos helped me walk the pups tonight. I love that Jimmy kept his birthday hat on the whole time. So cute.

Beautiful Day!

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures. But I did go on an hour-long walk with my pups to and around the park. It's almost a crime to be inside on a day like this.

Oh, and I'm working on teaching Max to speak. Perhaps there will be a video of that in the near future...

Keeping Things Simple

After two years of owning an iPod Touch, I finally figured out how to put apps on it.
I don't think it's entirely my fault. I had to pay for a software upgrade in order to make it possible. Every time I plugged it in to sync to my computer it would ask if I wanted to pay for an upgrade (there had been some free upgrades that I always said yes to) and I didn't really look at it before saying "remind me later" or something.

The point is, I have the following apps:

Scriptures
and
LDS Study Aids

I paid $15 for the Scriptures app. It has all the standard works, includes the Bible Dictionary and Topical Guide, shows cross-references for scriptures, allows you to highlight, make notes, etc. It's pretty amazing.

LDS Study Aids I got for free. It's the material that is being used in Sunday School and Priesthood/Relief Society. I have the Old Testament manual for Sunday School, and then the whole Gospel Principles book right there.

What I love about all of this is that now the only thing I have to carry to church is my purse - as long as my iPod is in it.

Realizing that I pack super-light for church now made me decide to walk to church today. It's almost 2.5 miles away, most of that is going uphill, but my hands will be unencumbered. It's been a while since I've walked to church (not since I stopped meeting around the corner from my house) and it's not too cold out there, so this will be nice. Hopefully it doesn't snow - but if it does, I can always beg a ride home. (:

Because it Snowed Yesterday...

... I listened to Christmas music this morning! And I sang Christmas songs yesterday while on a walk with the pups (they don't mind me singing - another reason why they are excellent walking companions!).

For your listening pleasure -
if you skip ahead to about 2 min. into it you'll skip all of their talking

don't worry, I'll post it again when it's closer to Christmas

ps - while listening to the music in the car today, I realized that I had never put together a great Christmas play list. that's one project I'll be working on. I love Christmas music!

Outrunning the Rain

Friday I missed my daily walk with Dingo. Saturday morning he kept following me around trying to herd me toward the door (he is part cattle dog...). I promised him that we would go later in the day. And yes, I'm pretty sure he understood me. I also promised him that we would go for a longer walk than normal to make up for missing the day before.

One gorgeous scene from walking (featuring the clouds holding the rain that we were trying to outrun)

The dingo (just because I think he's cute)

We didn't outrun anything.
Not at all.
