So Funny

If you have never seen the movie 'Sahara.' You need to remedy that. Personal opinion.

But I'm right.

It's hilarious.

I have a hard time even thinking about without laughing.

Anyway, there's one exchange in there between the two main characters (Matthew McConaughey and Steve Zahn) that I really like. My parents and I were trying to recreate it but couldn't remember it word for word. My parents watched the movie and my mom wrote down the conversation (thanks again Mom!). I'm putting it here so I can find it again when I want to. (:

Al: You know how it is when you see someone you haven’t seen since high school  and they’ve got some dead end job, and they’re married to some woman who hates 'em, they’ve got like 3 kids that think he’s a joke.

Isn’t there some point at which he said - Bob, don’t take that job. Bob, Don’t marry that harpy. You know?

Dirk: Your point?

Al: Well, we’re in the middle of the desert looking for the source of a river pollutant using as our map a cave drawing of a civil war gunship which is also in the desert. I was just wondering when we’re gonna have to sit down and reevaluate our decision making paradigm.

Dirk: I don’t know, it’s working for us so far.

Seriously, if you haven't seen it, watch it. And let me know that you need to watch it and I'll watch it with you. (:

Speaking of my love for Sabrina... (which I was doing just recently)

(say that with a Spanish accent and it sounds fierce)

although that may be a good thing to remember every once and a while...

Yay for Movies!

I get excited.

Really, really, excited.

I Love It!

I've blogged a bit about this movie before, but I just had to again.

This is my "go to" movie (I'm not really sure what I mean by that, so don't ask.).

I can put this movie on at any time, in any mood, and I will love it.

I love the cast.
I love the story.
I love the soundtrack.
I love how clean it is.
I love it!

It's excellent background noise for me. All the music in the soundtrack is soft and soothing (I own the soundtrack too. It's beautiful.). I have all the dialogue memorized (practically), and it doesn't distract me at all to have it playing in the background. I've watched it probably four times in the last week/week and a half (mostly as background, so I haven't necessarily watched it four times).

It's one that I feel I can recommend to anyone and regardless of their movie standards, I don't have to warn them about any scenes or language. It's fantastic.

ps - I feel as thought I should add that I am definitely partial to the Harrison Ford/Julia Ormond/Greg Kinnear version
The three of them are fabulous.
I love Audrey Hepburn, but her version of the movie just doesn't do the same thing for me.
I've never been a Bogart fan (though I do love Casablanca), so that's probably a big part of it.
However, personality-wise, I can definitely relate more to Julia Ormond's character than Audrey Hepburn's. Technically they're the same character, but Ormond is more introvert and Hepburn more extrovert.

That's just my take on it.

Everything Today is Thoroughly Modern

I've been listening to the "Thoroughly Modern Millie" soundtrack on and off for the last couple of days. I'm kind of loving it. Okay. I'm really loving it. In my listening I've discovered that I love hearing Gavin Creel and Sutton Foster sing. So much so that I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy each of their albums.

As much as I love the movie (and I do!) I must say that I've like the play versions I've seen maybe a little better than the movie. They have some fun songs that the movie leaves out.

If you haven't already seen it (or even if you have) you should see it (again!)!

Right Now...

I'm lying on my bed watching Shall We Dance (not the J Lo, Richard Gere one).

Here's a sweet scene from the movie:

I can't move like that even when I don't have wheels on my feet!
They say it took over 150 takes to get the scene filmed. I'm amazed at how comfortable Astaire looks dancing on skates. I love watching him dance.

I Like Him

This was the last movie I watched while exercising downstairs. I love it. And I love him.

Great disguises.
Brilliant Acting.

I absolutely love seeing him play the serious/dramatic part and it's fun to see him play the "idiot" as well.

What's not to like about him?

Some of my favorite lines:

Or would you have me declare it as I feel it, with all my heart?"

Both of which make this:

a movie well worth watching.

A Most Delightful Surprise!

I went home on my lunch break today. I checked the mail hoping to see my GRE scores had arrived (I have no idea what my writing score is, and my application is due on Saturday...). They hadn't ) : But a small manila envelope with my name on it was there. For the life of me I couldn't think of what I had ordered or what was being sent to me. I opened up the envelope and saw:

as a DVD! I thought I had ordered it as a VHS (points go to me for observing every email exchange I had with the owner that was in regard to "invoice #**** Pirates of Penzance DVD" Of course it wasn't bolded and huge, but still, it showed up in my inbox at least 5x.

Anyway, the point of the story is - I have looked for this movie (not the taped play - that's not nearly as good) on DVD for a very, very long time and accidentally found it! I mean, really, how great is that?!?!
