Check This Out

Creative people fascinate me.

See here.

So Funny

The first one is kind of long, but it's really funny.

They both are.

Funny, that is.

there are a couple of times I don't understand what they're saying
if you hear a swear word that I missed, sorry!
after listening to it a few more times, I'm pretty sure I get it.
mute it from 2:47 to 2:49 and you'll avoid it. (:

Sad Day

It was all arranged. I told someone I needed a hotel room for one night. For me and my supervisor to attend this conference. She emailed back. She said she would arrange for a room with two queen beds.

We're at the conference.

There's no room. Well, somewhere there's a room. Somewhere there are lots of rooms. But there's no room with my name on it.

We're in St. George, without a room.

Luckily Erin's family has a condo so we won't have to sleep in the car. That wouldn't be fun.

However, there's no internet at the condo.

So much for being productive and using the internet to do my homework.
So much for entertaining myself online while taking breaks from being productive and doing my homework.

Farewell to all the homework and entertainments found online.

I'll be spending a quiet evening.

It's Official

I'm getting old.

And here's proof:

Do you see it?

Among the blondish strands (natural blondish strands, thank you very much :) there's a strand that stands out a bit too much.

My first white hair ever.

I'm getting old.

Google Is Scary Smart

The other day, when emailing my supervisor, this popped up after I hit 'send':

I had indeed written, 'I'm attaching.' I also meant to attach a file. I thanked gmail for being so on top of it, canceled the message, attached the file, and sent it for real.

Scary smart.

A Tribute

Here's what the guy who created the video wrote about it:

On September 11th, 2001 I was driving in my car to work and listening to the radio. They played a song by the group Live called 'Overcome' from their album that was going to be coming out in a week. They cut into that song to announce that the World Trade center had been hit. Because of that, I associated that song with that day.

A few years ago while cleaning out a closet. I came across all the 9/11 video tapes that my wife had made by continuously recording the news during the September 11th disaster and I decided to compile the footage to the Live song. This is that video.

Here's what I remember about that day:

I woke up to the radio, and heard them talking about a plane crashing into the WTC. I went upstairs to talk to my grandparents about what I had heard, and saw them watching the news. While watching, we saw the second plane crash into the second tower.

I went to school, after having heard from my mom that my brother Adam and his family were all okay.

I went to our weekly campus devotional which had turned into a prayer-service and cried while standing and singing the opening song of "Come, Come Ye Saints." I had never before related that song so personally before then.

This is a petty thing to remember, but I heard from multiple friends that a lot of their classes were canceled that day. None of mine were.

I remember being shocked and horror-stricken at what had happened.

I remember being shocked and awed at what amazing and heroic people we heard about from that horrendous event.

I remember being grateful that the 'brotherhood of man' still existed and was demonstrated by how people jumped in to help their fellowman and risked and gave their lives for people they had never known.

I remember being proud to be an American ...
... and grateful for God's blessings.

I'm Doing It -

A couple of weeks ago I signed up for the Love Your Body women-only 6k/10k. I signed up to the 6k walk. I'm assuming that they won't kick me out if I decide to run part of it. I never saw why they made you choose the walk or the run, but I've never seen that done before... Oh well.

I think it'll be fun to be in a run that only women are running. I also think it will be fun to do it after I've lost (by that time...) 20+ lbs (although, just as the name of the run says, it's good to love your body regardless of size, something I've had to work on over the years). I just think it'll be fun to do it in general.

And I think you should sign up too. (:
