Anyway, I went on a walk with a co-worker during our break time (45 degrees outside following a bitterly cold weekend, and it felt like heaven - no sweaters required). When I came back, I saw the following text from my oldest sister and her 5 year-old daughter -
Eden, Grace and I want to know if you picked your nose and ate it when you were a little girl.
First, I laughed, went to show my co-worker, she laughed, and then I responded. The following exchange ensued -
Me: Do you want the role model answer or the honest answer? I'll give you both. 1 - No Gracie, never! 2 - Just like everyone else Gracie... Yes.
Me: I mean, just like everyone else except your mom... (I wasn't sure if she had asked Bethany this question and I didn't want to throw her under the same bus I was diving under.)
B: Wanted the real one. I told her the real one (after I caught her in the act) and a minute later she asked if you did.
Me: That's hilarious.
B: She was too embarrassed to call so I texted.
B: I assured Grace (who was also embarrassed for me to send the text - which is why I included me in the asking - not that I wasn't curious...) that you'd love getting it. And that you'd laugh.
Your mom was right on Gracie. I loved getting it and I laughed. Out loud. Throughout the rest of the afternoon whenever I thought about it.
And I'm still laughing.
I love that little girl.
Now, if this story makes you hesitate to climb on the monkey bars with me, let me assure you that I broke that habit years and years and years ago.
Promise.
