An Awakening

Yesterday I picked up a big bag of dog food for Max. It was really heavy.

Today, when I was pouring food into his bowl, I thought again about how heavy it was and I decided to check the weight of the bag. It said '34 lbs.' I couldn't believe it. As of yesterday's weigh-in I've lost 31 lbs. I was hefting slightly more than my lost weight in dog food and it was heavy! I couldn't believe that I had been carrying all that weight around. It was a pretty good feeling to realize that it was all gone. For good. (:

Lately -

- I've been loving this song. For the past month or so every time it comes on my ipod I replay it at least once more. (: Enjoy!

6k Run - Setting a Personal Record

On Saturday morning I ran a 6k with Katie. Having never run a 6k (because it's not a typical distance for a race), we knew that no matter our finishing time, we'd be setting prs for ourselves.

Katie pinning on her first ever racing bib.

Katie and me before the race.

Katie and me during the race.

Katie and me after the race.

It was a woman-only race, which I've never done before. We ended up coming in at 46:19:09 and 46:20:01, averaging a little quicker than 12 and a half minute miles.

My major accomplishment - I ran the whole way. I've never done that before. It was fabulous and I felt amazing. Weighing in at about 15 lbs lighter than when I ran my half and closer yo 20 lbs lighter than when I ran my full was wonderful too.

WW tally - 28.6 lbs gone... and counting...

Feeding the Ducks

Yesterday I went to a park to feed the ducks.

we started with a small group, but more kept flying over to join us.

is this a goose?
there were a few of them there.

mostly mallards, but a few pretty white ones.

then there was this odd grayish fellow.
i liked him.

a couple of them came from behind and got pretty close.

This Has Never Happened to Me Before

and that's not an exaggeration.
it's pretty exciting.
but i think i'll keep it to myself for a while. (:

Meet Max

Isn't he cute? He's been a member of our household for the last week. Other than a couple of scuffles with Dingo (one of which drew blood), things have been going well. He's a sweetheart.

Stats:
age - 2
breed - golden retriever & poodle
feet - huge (as is his cute head)
active - very, loves playing fetch, we're hoping to convert from balls to frisbees
